Title: Caught-on-Fire: Chilean observation of eruptive young stars

 Abstract:

 The fate of the pre-main-sequence evolutionary stage is governed by the mass accretion process. During the first 1 Myr of stellar evolution, the mass accretion is highly unstable, as most of the stellar mass was gathered during short episodic accretion windows. The duration, frequency and amplitude of these high-accretion phase determine the final mass of the star. In this talk, I will present our ongoing observational campaign of eruptive young stars, including results from two newly established photometric and spectroscopic surveys on Chilean host telescopes. In particular, I will present an eruptive young star with hot water vapour emission bands in the near-infrared. I will also show one bona fide FUor-type outburst with mid-infrared precursor, indicating an outside-in triggering mechanism.
