SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – Dr. Salvador Urrea – Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot Curie
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Salvador Urrea \nInstitution: Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot Curie (IJCLAB) \nTitle: New Physics at Neutrino Detectors \nAbstract: In this talk\, I will discuss the potential of neutrino detectors as powerful tools in the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. First\, focusing on phenomena that affect neutrino oscillations\, I will delve into scenarios such as sterile neutrinos and non-unitarity in the leptonic sector\, for which I will use the DUNE Near Detector to project future sensitivities. Additionally\, I will constrain non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) by performing a global fit to oscillation data and coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS). Second\, I will explore how neutrino experiments can be utilized as fixed-target facilities to search for feebly interacting particles (FIPs)\, such as axion-like particles (ALPs) and heavy neutral leptons (HNLs). For this\, I will use two different facilities: the DUNE Near Detector complex and our proposal to employ the ProtoDUNE detectors—prototypes of the DUNE Far Detector currently located at CERN—to search for these FIPs. \nFecha: Miércoles 19 de Marzo a las 14:30 hrs (Chile Continental)\n\nLa plataforma será google meets. SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – Juan Pedro Ochoa Ricoux – University of California\, Irvine
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Professor Juan Pedro Ochoa Ricoux \nInstitution: University of California\, Irvine \nTitle: JUNO: A Multipurpose Observatory for Terrestrial and Cosmic Neutrinos \nDate: Miércoles 9 de abril\, 14:30 hrs (Chile Continental) \nLocation: Online \nAbstract: Neutrinos are elusive particles with unique properties that offer key insights into the fundamental makeup of our world and the cosmic sources that produce them. The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a multipurpose neutrino detector in China that is nearing completion after over a decade of design and construction. In addition to having an unprecedentedly large 20 kton liquid scintillator target\, JUNO will have an energy resolution of 3%\, with which it will be able to resolve the fine structure in the oscillation probability of reactor antineutrinos at a baseline of 52.5 km. This capability will enable JUNO to determine how neutrino masses are ordered and to advance our knowledge of neutrino oscillations beyond current limits. JUNO will also have a rich program with neutrinos from a variety of natural sources\, such as the Earth\, the Sun\, the atmosphere\, and supernova explosions. This talk will cover the design\, physics prospects\, and current status of the project. \n\nLa plataforma será Teams. SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – Stéphane Lavignac – Institut de Physique Théorique\, Université Paris Saclay
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Professor Stéphane Lavignac \nInstitution: Institut de Physique Théorique\, Université Paris Saclay \nTitle: “Neutrinos and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe” \nDate: Miércoles 18 de junio\, 14:30 horas (Chile  Continental) \nAbstract: The observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe cannot be explained within the Standard Model and requires new physics. Interestingly\, the simplest extension of the Standard Model that can generate Majorana masses for neutrinos contains all the ingredients needed to create an excess of matter over antimatter\nin the early Universe\, via a mechanism called leptogenesis. In this talk\, I will discuss the connections between neutrino masses\, CP violation in the lepton sector and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe\, and discuss different leptogenesis scenarios. In particular\, I will present recent work about leptogenesis during a cosmological first order phase transition. \n  \nLa plataforma será Teams. SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – Paola Arias Reyes – Universidad San Sebastián
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Professor Paola Arias Reyes \nInstitution: Universidad San Sebastián \nTitle:“Freeze-In dark matter with messenger portals in low temperature reheating scenarios” \nDate: Miércoles 3 de septiembre\, 16:00 horas (Chile Continental) \nAbstract: “In this talk we will motivate the production of dark matter through freeze-in mechanisms\, focusing on two different realizations where messenger particles connect the dark sector to the Standard Model. In the first model\, the axion plays the role of dark matter\, while a dark photon acts as the mediator to the SM\, defining the Pure Dark Axion Portal. In the second model\, the dark matter candidate is the dark photon\, and a pseudo-scalar particle serves as the messenger through two distinct interactions to the SM that give rise to both UV and IR freeze-in channels. These channels provide a rich phenomenology and shape the relic abundance. In both frameworks\, a low reheating temperature plays a central role\, not only in the dark matter production but also in opening possibilities for testing the models through experimental or observational signatures.” \n  \nLa plataforma será Teams. \nEnlace aquí. \nMeeting ID: 220 520 664 292\nPasscode: CN6jp6UZ

SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – Leandro Da Rold – CONICET e Instituto Balseiro
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Professor Leandro Da Rold\n\nInstitution: CONICET e Instituto Balseiro\n\n\n\nFecha y hora: Miércoles 13 de Mayo\, 14:30 hrs (Chile Continental)\, híbrido (presencial y online)\n\nTítulo: Effective description of a composite Higgs \nAbstract: A very attractive framework to obtain a naturally light Higgs is to consider it as a composite pseudo-Goldstone boson of a new strongly interacting sector. I will review different aspects of this idea\, such as the minimal model\, extended scalar sectors\, dynamical symmetry breaking\, flavor and collider phenomenology. I will consider an effective description of this composite Higgs in terms of theories of resonances\, both from warped extra dimensions as well as from effective moose models. \nBelow Team coordinates:\n\nhttps://teams.microsoft.com/meet/220520664292?p=kduIRNCRwEKiNztq0y\n\n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 220 520 664 292 \n\n\nPasscode: CN6jp6UZ \n\n\n\nOn the other hand\, I remind you that we have a YouTube channel for the HEP seminars which is the following:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg

SUMMARY:Seminario Online "Modular-protected seesaw and hierarchies beyond g=1" - Dr. Joao Penedo
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Modular flavour symmetries may explain the origin of fermion mass hierarchies\, generating them via a slight deviation of the modulus field(s) from a symmetric point (or region). In the lepton sector\, the small deviation governing (i) charged-lepton mass hierarchies may be simultaneously responsible for the breaking of lepton number in a low-scale seesaw\, sourcing (ii) neutrino masses and (iii) the mass splitting of a pseudo-Dirac pair of heavy neutral leptons. In the quark sector\, such small deviations are not easily compatible with CKM CP violation if only one modulus field is present\, leading us to explore the higher-genus (g=2) Siegel modular framework. \n\n\nBelow teams coordinates: \nhttps://teams.microsoft.com/meet/220520664292?p=kduIRNCRwEKiNztq0y \n\n\nMeeting ID: 220 520 664 292 \n\n\nPasscode: CN6jp6UZ
