SUMMARY:Seminario de Astrofísica: "Intracluster Light with Euclid: Forecasting Euclid’s capabilities for ICL detection"- Callum Bellhouse\, University of Nottingham
DESCRIPTION:Entrar Zoom Reunión\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83577062579?pwd=b2NWMlM4OW1KZ042Ym0vRmF5YUx6Zz09\n\nID de reunión: 835 7706 2579\nCódigo de acceso: 1234\n\n\n\nIntracluster Light with Euclid: Forecasting Euclid’s capabilities for ICL detection\n\nThe Euclid space telescope presents an exciting opportunity to delve into the processes which form and evolve galaxy clusters. An important aspect of the evolution of clusters is the formation of diffuse intracluster light (ICL) within cluster haloes\, which offers an insight into a cluster’s dynamics and assembly history. Since ICL is very diffuse\, detecting and quantifying it presents a challenge. I will demonstrate Euclid’s transformative potential to constrain the evolution of the ICL fraction over cosmic time with unprecedented sample sizes and precision. We have been forecasting the limits with which Euclid will be able to detect ICL by analysing simulated clusters across a range of halo masses\, redshifts and ICL parameters (fraction of ICL\, effective radius\, sersic index). We will explore ‘idealised’ signal-to-noise ratios for ICL detections across this parameter space in NIR H-band\, and compare with results from different ICL fitting routines\, in order to forecast the effectiveness with which Euclid will be able to detect ICL in future observations. We also estimate the expected sample sizes of clusters in which we will detect ICL across the Euclid Wide Survey.

SUMMARY:Seminario HEP – David Vanegas Forero – Universidad de Medellín
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Profesor David Vanegas Forero \nInstitution: Universidad de Medellín \nTitle:(Non-) Standard neutrino oscillations: Days of Future Past \nDate: Jueves 10 de julio\, 15:00 horas (Chile Continental) \nAbstract: “Abstract: Standard Neutrino oscillations\, in the three active neutrino paradigm\, successfully account for the observed neutrino flavor transitions. Approved and funded next-generation neutrino oscillation experiments are expected to measure the ‘known unknowns’ i.e. to stablish whether there is CP-violation in the lepton sector and the correct mass ordering\, and to improve the precision of the already measured mixing angles. However\, in parallel to this so call ‘standard neutrino program’\, given the expected improvement in precision\, different well motivated – some long-standing-\, beyond standard model scenarios could emerge as subleading effects on top of the standard oscillations. How do signals of non-standard oscillations appear in neutrino detectors? In this talk\, we give examples of efforts that answer this question”. \nLas coordenadas zoom son las siguientes: \nTopic: Coloquios y seminarios\nTime: This is a recurring meeting Meet anytime\nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://reuna.zoom.us/j/83577062579?pwd=b2NWMlM4OW1KZ042Ym0vRmF5YUx6Zz09\n\nMeeting ID: 835 7706 2579\nPasscode: 12345\n \nFind your local number: https://reuna.zoom.us/u/kdboO2emfi

SUMMARY:Seminario Materia Condensada - Gabriele De Chiara - Universidad Barcelona\, España
DESCRIPTION:  \nExpositor:  Gabriele De Chiara \nProcedencia: Universidad Barcelona\, España \nTítulo: Kirkwood-Dirac quasiprobability distributions in quantum mechanics \nFecha: martes 2 de septiembre\,  10:00 AM \nLugar: Sala de Conferencias Dr. Luciano Laroze (E300) \nAbstract: In this seminar\, I will discuss the role of quasiprobability distributions (QPDs) in describing the statistics of measurement outcomes of observables measured at two or more times in quantum systems. QPDs have several applications in quantum thermodynamics\, e.g. in defining the distribution of work done on or extracted from a quantum systems\, as well as in quantum many-body physics\, given their connection to the Loschmidt echo and their use in analysing quantum quenches. \nI will focus on the Kirkwood-Dirac (KD) distribution\, highlighting how the presence of initial coherence and the incompatibility of the measured observables can give rise to complex-valued quasiprobabilities. I will present simple illustrative examples and describe interferometric schemes that can be implemented experimentally to reconstruct the QPD. \n

DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Martin Rybar \nInstitution: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics\, Charles University in Prague \nTítulo: “Collisions of light at the LHC” \n\nMiércoles 24 de Septiembre\, 16:00 hrs (Chile Continental) \nHíbrido (presencial y online)\, Sala E300 \nAbstract: \nThe Large Hadron Collider is best known for colliding protons and heavy ions together\, but it also provides a unique opportunity to study collisions of light. In ultra-peripheral heavy-ion collisions\, the strong electromagnetic fields of the ions act as intense photon beams. These enable the study of photon-photon and photon-ion interactions. The seminar will present results from ATLAS experiment\, highlighting how such measurements open new windows on testing quantum electrodynamics\, studying nuclear structure\, and the search for physics beyond the Standard Model.\n  \n\n\nLa plataforma será Teams. Furthermore\, the mechanism responsible for generating neutrino masses remains one of the Standard Model’s enduring mysteries. SUMMARY:Seminario de Altas Energías: "Strongly coupled inert model with radiative neutrino masses" – Dr. Jeremy Echeverria
DESCRIPTION:Título: Strongly coupled inert model with radiative neutrino masses\n\nSpeaker: Dr. Jeremy Echeverria\n \nInstitution: Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María\n\nAbstract: This talk presents an extension of the Standard Model through a new strongly coupled SU(2) symmetry group\, complemented by discrete symmetries. The central feature of this framework is the incorporation of a strongly interacting inert scalar sector and a scalar bidoublet that mediates interactions with this new sector. Additionally\, the model predicts the emergence of vector resonances. \nWe discuss the implementation of fermion mass-generation mechanisms that simultaneously address the hierarchy of charged fermion masses and the origin of small neutrino masses. Specifically\, we detail the realization of a Universal Seesaw mechanism for charged fermions and a one-loop radiative Seesaw mechanism for active neutrinos\, mediated by the strong inert sector. \nThe phenomenological implications of the model constitute the core of this study. We demonstrate the consistency of the framework with electroweak precision observables and constraints from the Higgs sector. Constraints and predictions for lepton flavour violating processes are analyzed\, alongside the potential for generating the observed matter–antimatter asymmetry in the Universe via leptogenesis. Finally\, we investigate the ability of the extended scalar sector to account for the excess observed near 95 GeV in the diphoton channel\, recently reported by the CMS experiment\, thus offering a distinctive and testable signal of new physics at the LHC.\n\nThe zoom coordinates are: \n\nhttps://reuna.zoom.us/j/83577062579?pwd=b2NWMlM4OW1KZ042Ym0vRmF5YUx6Zz09 \n  \nID de reunión: 835 7706 2579 \nCódigo de acceso: 12345
