(Chile Continental) vía online. \nSpeaker:    Professor Ferruccio Feruglio (University of Padova) \nTitle:   “Modular invariance and the flavor puzzle” \nAbstract:  \nThe flavor sector of particle physics requires more than 20 parameters for a complete description. Despite the very precise available data\, the\norigin of these parameters remains obscure. Such a flavor puzzle is one of the most profound and fascinating problems of fundamental interactions. \nThe hope of deriving these parameters from a fundamental principle has led scientists to explore a great variety of symmetries patterns. In this talk\, I will show how the role of flavor symmetry can be played by modular invariance\, ubiquitous in string theory and condensed matter systems. Modular invariance can be explored in a consistent bottom-up\napproach\, which here will be reviewed and applied to neutrino masses and mixing angles.   Despite the freedom inherent in model building\, a set of universal predictions free from ambiguities can be formulated when the theory approaches a critical point\, much as in the case of phase transitions. Hoy\, gracias a los esfuerzos de la comunidad astronómica internacional\, se conocen más de 5000 planetas\, los cuales están identificados y se sabe que\, en promedio\, cada estrella de la galaxia alberga más de un planeta. Sin embargo\, los grandes misterios aún sin resolver en la ciencia planetaria tienen que ver con la materia de qué están hechos estos planetas. Si bien es relativamente fácil medir la densidad promedio de los exoplanetas\, las técnicas estándar no permiten medir su composición química. Wagner (Enrico Fermi Institute (EFI) and Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP)\, University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory \nTitle:   “Reflections on the Higgs Sector in the Standard Model and Beyond” \nAbstract:   \nIn this talk I will review the properties of the Standard Model Higgs sector and discuss how these properties are modified once we introduce new physics at the weak scale. I will also discuss the specific properties a model should present in order to approach the Standard Model behavior and therefore be consistent with experiment. In relation to this\, I will introduce the concept of alignment in the Higgs sector as well as ways in which alignment can be achieved. DESCRIPTION:Title: Hidden in the dark: the low surface brightness Universe\n\nSpeaker: Mireia Montes\, Research fellow\, Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Spain)\n\nAbstract:  One of the last remaining frontiers in optical/near-infrared\nobservational astronomy is the low surface brightness regime. This is\nthe universe with the lowest density of stars\, largely unknown to\nprevious surveys such as the SDSS. Studying this regime promises to\nprovide transformative insights into our knowledge of star formation in\nlow-mass galaxies\, the hierarchical structure of galaxies and galaxy\nclusters\, and the ultimate nature of dark matter. DESCRIPTION:Speaker:    Profesora Paola Arias Reyes  (Universidad San Sebastián; Santiago) \nTitle:   “Axion relics in non-standard cosmologies” \n \nAbstract:   \nI will review our recent findings in axion production by considering a non-standard expansion before Big Bang nucleosynthesis onset. I will start with cold dark matter production through the misalignment mechanism\, assuming the energy density of the universe is dominated by a particle field described by a general equation of state. I will show the parameter space where the QCD axion is a dark matter candidate depending on the details of the non-standard cosmology.
