SUMMARY:Seminario Altas Energías – Valentina De Romeri (Universitat de Valencia\, España)
DESCRIPTION:AnuncioSeminarioValentinaDeRomeri\nDate: 28 de agosto – 14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) \nLugar: Vía online \nSpeaker: Valentina De Romeri (Universitat de Valencia\, España) \n Title:  “Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering in the Standard Model and Beyond” \n  \nAbstract: \nCoherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) is a neutral-current process in which a neutrino scatters off an entire nucleus. First theoretically predicted in the ‘70s\, its detection has proven especially challenging due to the tiny nuclear recoil energies produced in the scattering. CEvNS was measured for the first time in 2017 by the COHERENT collaboration. This observation has opened the window to many physics applications\, including Standard Model precision tests and searches for new physics. In this talk\, I will discuss the physics potential of CEvNS. I will first briefly review the main features of CEvNS and the status of current observations. Then I will comment on their implications for tests of the Standard Model\, namely the determination of the weak mixing angle and the extraction of nuclear structure information. Concerning physics beyond the standard model\, I will present several applications: new neutrino interactions\, the production of new particles\, and the role of CEvNS as a background for dark matter direct detection probes. \n   \nUnirse a la reunión Zoom con nombre y apellido (with name and surname):  https://reuna.zoom.us/j/87161425888?pwd=MWFZUFNQRnI4MXo1QzFLdGpJblllZz09 \n  \nID de reunión: 871 6142 5888 \nCódigo de acceso: 100126 \n\nThe seminars are uploaded in the youtube channel UTFSMHEP Seminars: \nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg

SUMMARY:Seminario Altas Energías – Alexander Belyaev (University of Southampton\, United Kingdom)
DESCRIPTION:Seminario Alexander Belyaev_21 de agosto\nDate: 21 de agosto – 14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) \nLugar: Vía online \nSpeaker: Alexander Belyaev  (University of Southampton\, United Kingdom) \n Title: “The  Physics of Fermionic Portal to Vector Dark Matter” \n  \nAbstract: \nWe suggest a new class of models – Fermionic Portal Vector Dark Matter (FPVDM) which extends the Standard Model (SM) with SU(2)_D dark gauge sector. While FPVDM does not require kinetic mixing and Higgs portal to explain Dark Matter (DM) phenomena.  This framework is based on the Vector-Like (VL) fermionic doublet which couples the dark sector with the SM sector through the Yukawa interaction. The FPVDM framework provides a vector DM with Z_2 odd parity ensuring its stability.  Multiple realisations are allowed depending on the VL partner and scalar potential\, which\nexplain not only DM but also  could  provide solution of various BSM hints\, including (g-2)_mu\, flavour anomalies as well as W-boson mass measurement by CDF.  Moreover\, the breaking of  SU(2)_D can also  provides the Graviational Wave signals from a specific regions of the parameter space\, where the  strong first-order phase transition takes place. \nTwo FPVDM examples  will be discussed. One of them is the realisation with only a VL top partner\, which  provides interesting and promising implications for DM direct and indirect detection experiments\, relic density and collider searches.   Another  realisation is th emodel with  a doublet of new vector-like partners of  muon can simultaneously explain DM relic density together with (g-2)_mu anomaly   which has been in close focus of the HEP community over two decades.  It  predicts the mass of vector DM to be below  GeV as well as the mass of the muon partner to be below 1 TeV\, and provides novel multi-lepton signatures at the LHC. \nThe talk is based on 2203.04681\, 2204.03510 arXiv papers as well as the two new papers which are coming soon. \n   \nAlso attached is a pdf of this talk by Professor Alexander Belyaev. \n   \nUnirse a la reunión Zoom con nombre y apellido (with name and surname):       https://reuna.zoom.us/j/87161425888?pwd=MWFZUFNQRnI4MXo1QzFLdGpJblllZz09 \n\nID de reunión: 871 6142 5888 \nCódigo de acceso: 100126 \n\nNOTE:  The seminars are uploaded in the youtube channel UTFSMHEP Seminars:   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg

SUMMARY:Seminario de Astrofísica: "Intracluster Light with Euclid: Forecasting Euclid’s capabilities for ICL detection"- Callum Bellhouse\, University of Nottingham
DESCRIPTION:Entrar Zoom Reunión\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83577062579?pwd=b2NWMlM4OW1KZ042Ym0vRmF5YUx6Zz09\n\nID de reunión: 835 7706 2579\nCódigo de acceso: 1234\n\n\n\nIntracluster Light with Euclid: Forecasting Euclid’s capabilities for ICL detection\n\nThe Euclid space telescope presents an exciting opportunity to delve into the processes which form and evolve galaxy clusters. An important aspect of the evolution of clusters is the formation of diffuse intracluster light (ICL) within cluster haloes\, which offers an insight into a cluster’s dynamics and assembly history. Since ICL is very diffuse\, detecting and quantifying it presents a challenge. I will demonstrate Euclid’s transformative potential to constrain the evolution of the ICL fraction over cosmic time with unprecedented sample sizes and precision. We have been forecasting the limits with which Euclid will be able to detect ICL by analysing simulated clusters across a range of halo masses\, redshifts and ICL parameters (fraction of ICL\, effective radius\, sersic index). We will explore ‘idealised’ signal-to-noise ratios for ICL detections across this parameter space in NIR H-band\, and compare with results from different ICL fitting routines\, in order to forecast the effectiveness with which Euclid will be able to detect ICL in future observations. We also estimate the expected sample sizes of clusters in which we will detect ICL across the Euclid Wide Survey.

SUMMARY:Seminario Altas Energías – Dr. Oscar Zapata Noreña (Universidad de Antioquía\, Colombia)
DESCRIPTION:Seminario Oscar Zapata_14 de agosto de 2024\n  \nDate: 14 de agosto – 14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) \nLugar: Vía online \nSpeaker: Dr. Oscar Zapata Noreña (Universidad de Antioquía\, Colombia) \n Title: “Dark matter in QCD-like theories with a theta vacuum: cosmological and astrophysical implications” \n  \nAbstract: \nQCD-like theories in which the dark matter (DM) of the Universe is hypothesized to be a thermal relic in the form of a dark pion has been extensively investigated\, with most studies neglecting the CP-violating θ-angle associated with the topological vacuum. We point out that a non-vanishing θ could potentially trigger resonant number-changing processes giving rise to the observed relic density in agreement with perturbative unitarity as well as observations of clusters of galaxies. This constitutes a novel production mechanism of MeV DM and an alternative to those relying on the Wess-Zumino-Witten term. Moreover\, for specific meson mass spectra\, similar resonant scatterings serve as a realization of velocity-dependent self-interacting DM without a light mediator. Explicit benchmark models are presented together with a discussion of possible signals. \n  \nUnirse a la reunión Zoom con nombre y apellido (with name and surname):    https://reuna.zoom.us/j/87161425888?pwd=MWFZUFNQRnI4MXo1QzFLdGpJblllZz09 \n  \nID de reunión: 871 6142 5888 \nCódigo de acceso: 100126 \n   \nNOTE:  The seminars are uploaded in the youtube channel UTFSMHEP Seminars:   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg

DESCRIPTION:Seminario Juan Carlos Gómez_7 de Agosto de 2024\n  \nDate: 7 de agosto – 14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) \nLugar: Sala de Conferencias Dr. Luciano Laroze (E-300) (Solo se realizará presencial) \nSpeaker: Dr. Juan Carlos Gómez Izquierdo (Instituto Politécnico Nacional\, México) \n Title: “Inverse See-Saw Mechanism with S3 Flavor Symmetry” \n   \nAbstract: \nCobimaximal mixing predicts π/4 and 3π/2 for the atmospheric angle and the Dirac CP-violating phase\, respectively. These values are in tension with the neutrino globals fits. If this pattern was behind the lepton mixings\, then it would have to be broken. In my presentation\, I discuss the S3 flavor symmetry within the B− L gauge model where the Cobimaximal pattern comes from the neutrino sector but the charged lepton contribution breaks the well known predictions so the mixing observables can be accommodated quite well according to the available data. In addition to this\, some phenomenological aspects as neutrinoless double beta decay and lepton decays will be commented.

SUMMARY:Seminario Altas Energías – Dr. Alexander Deur (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility\, USA)
DESCRIPTION:Seminario Alexander Deur_31 de julio de 2024\n  \nDate: 31 de julio – 14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) – vía online \nSpeaker: Dr. Alexander Deur  (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility\, USA) \n Title: “Insights from Light-Front Quantization on the Unruh Effect” \n   \nAbstract: \n We discuss the Unruh effect\, i.e.\, the possibility that the virtual particles widely believed to populate a quantum vacuum can be observed from an accelerated frame. However\, as well known\, quantum loops are not present when the vacuum is analyzed using the light-front (LF) form. Analysing the Unruh effect in using  LF show that\, since the light-front vacuum is effectively empty\, there is no Unruh effect\, i.e.\, acceleration has no effect on a trivial vacuum. Since the standard Instant-Form (IF) calculations suggesting an Unruh effect are formally consistent\, there must be a cancelling contribution omitted in the IF analyses. A ready candidate for such cancelation is the dynamical action of IF Lorentz transformations on the structure of an Unruh detector.  \n\nUnirse a la reunión Zoom con nombre y apellido (with name and surname):    https://reuna.zoom.us/j/87161425888?pwd=MWFZUFNQRnI4MXo1QzFLdGpJblllZz09 \n\nID de reunión: 871 6142 5888 \nCódigo de acceso: 100126 \n  \nNOTE:  The seminars are uploaded in the youtube channel UTFSMHEP Seminars:   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg

SUMMARY:Seminario Altas Energías – Dr. José Abdalla Helayël-Neto (Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas\, Brasil)
DESCRIPTION:Seminario José Helayel-Neto_24 de julio de 2024\n  \nDate: miércoles 24 de julio –  14:30 hrs. (Chile Continental) –  vía online \nSpeaker: Dr. José Abdalla Helayël-Neto (Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas\, Brasil) \nTitle: “Supersymmetry\, fact or fake?” \n  \nAbstract: \n20th Century Physics\, after the establishment of quantum theory\, surfs intensely on the concept of symmetry – which is implemented through Group Theory – and\, based on principles of invariance\, makes major predictions about the existence of new forms and new behavior of matter. Observations with cosmic rays and large experiments with particle accelerators gradually\, over the past decades\, confirm the existence of these elementary particles\, predicted far in advance and revealed through the understanding (philosophical above all) that Nature has an intrinsically mathematical quality\, as defended by Paul Dirac. Supersymmetry entered the scene in 1973\, at a special moment in which the Standard Model was being settled down with its well-known limitations. Supersymmetric partners that do not appear and regions of the MSSM that are increasingly restricted by recent experiments are elements\, for many\, of loss of confidence in this strongly consequent principle of invariance. The purpose of this contribution is to bring elements to reflect on this area that has already gone beyond the limits of the Physics of Fundamental Interactions and Elementary Particles\, clarify the advances it has brought\, the expectations it has not met and discuss what we can still expect from the area \n  \nUnirse a la reunión Zoom con nombre y apellido (with name and surname):    https://reuna.zoom.us/j/87161425888?pwd=MWFZUFNQRnI4MXo1QzFLdGpJblllZz09 \n ID de reunión: 871 6142 5888 \nCódigo de acceso: 100126 \n   \nNOTE:  The seminars are uploaded in the youtube channel UTFSMHEP Seminars:   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYq1A4y7pCHqovaXsrtd6hg
