DESCRIPTION:Charla a cargo del Expositor  Dr.  Diego Tancara de la Universidad Católica de Chile.\n \nTítulo : “Algoritmos cuánticos para problemas de optimización”\nFecha: Jueves 10 de Septiembre  de 2026.  \nHora: 11:05 hrs\nLugar: Sala F410\n\nResumen:\nEn esta charla se revisan enfoques cuánticos para resolver problemas de optimización formulados como QUBO\, un marco que captura muchas tareas relevantes en diversas áreas de la ciencia e ingeniería. Se presenta Quantum Approximate Optimizarion Algorithm como un algoritmo híbrido que explora el paisaje de energía con circuitos poco profundos y se discute su relación con Variarional Quantum Eigensolver. Además\, se describen extensiones recientes inspiradas en técnicas contradiabáticas digitalizadas. Se enfatizan las intuiciones físicas y los desafíos abiertos en la preparación de estados y la escalabilidad.

DESCRIPTION:Title: From neural nets to cosmic webs: Reconstructing the large scale structure of the universe from discrete tracers.\n\nAbstract: Galaxy formation and evolution cannot be studied independently of large-scale structure. Statistical measurements in cosmological simulations have shown that galaxy evolution depends heavily on the environments they evolve in; moreover\, observations at low redshift (z < 0.3) provide evidence that the anisotropic large scale environment impacts at least some galaxy properties. Nevertheless\, observing and labeling these environments at higher redshift remains a challenge\, leaving us with an incomplete cosmological context of the galaxies we observe. The goal of my PhD project consists of developing a deep learning model capable of reconstructing the gas density field in cosmological volumes using discrete observable tracers such as galaxies. During my talk I will be motivating the applications of this model\, presenting the methodology behind it and my current results.
